 Uirapuru (6 days/5 nights)

Day 1

Departure from your hotel in Manaus at 7:00 am. The trip takes three hours via speed boat, van and speed boat again. During your trip you might encounter some pink dolphins on the way. Enjoy your first contact with the jungle and observe the giant water lily, the magestic trees, the birds and the local communities. At Juma Lodge a welcome drink prepared with exotics fruits awaits you. Lunch, a creative fusion between international and Amazon cusine is then served. The afternoon activity is a reconnaissance tour through the igarapés (Amazonian creeks) and the igapós (flooded forest) in motorized canoes. Return to the Juma Lodge. At night, go out in a canoe ride to observe the night fauna and meet alligators, frogs and birds. Stay alert to the mysterious sounds of the forest and the starry sky.

Day 2

Breakfast with typical fruits and regional food. Leave for a jungle hike. Once inside the Amazon Rainforest, feel its charm and greatness. All tours are led by a lodge guide with great knowledge of the area. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we will go out fishing and learn more about the indigenous species of the Amazon (piranha, peacock bass). While enjoying the sunset, return to Juma, observing the Capped Herons and the Cormorant transform the landscape into an amazing show. Dinner will be complemented by the fish you caught earlier, cooked the Amazon way.

Day 3

Early in the morning, we will leave for a sunrise excursion, witnessing the transformation of the dark water of the Juma River into a mirror of the sights and sounds of the waking birds leaving their nests for another day. Breakfast. Visit to the house of a local native to learn more about their fascinating culture, including the manual production of manioc flour and the handcrafting of wallets and shoes out of rubber sap. Lunch at the Juma Lodge. Travel on a paddle canoe, just like the locals, while contemplating the dense vegetation, the height and width of the trees, the bird's and monkey's sounds. Everything is so amazing!

Day 4

Breakfast. Be prepared for a full day adventure into the forest with short hikes and instruction in jungle survival. Learn more about the forest, such as how it helps mankind by supplying medicinal plants, food, fresh water and even assorted products like pipes, incenses, oils, etc. In a pleasant site, eat a baked fish caught by yourself, sided by manioc flour and fresh vegetables. In the afternoon, rest in hammocks, as is the local Indian custom. Enjoy venturing out to gather (and eat) typical regional fruits such as Brazil nuts, cupuaçu, and açaí. Return to the Lodge.

Day 5

Free day. You will be able to choose what to do: either repeat an activity, or simply stay resting in the lodge.

Day 6

Breakfast. Return to Manaus. On the way back, stop to see the Meeting of the Waters, the spot where the muddy waters of the Solimões River and the black waters of the Negro River run side by side, without mixing, to form the great Amazonas River. By request, the guide will take you to a dive spot, where you can feel for yourself the 8°C (14°F) difference in temperature between the two rivers. A truly unique experience. Arrive at 11:30 a.m. at the airport or at your hotel in Manaus.
